Live the Mind Map
A mind map is a diagram of ideas and concepts centered around a theme. The theme here is the Spark of Creativity emanating from the metaphorical boxes in which we all live. Hence, this diagram starts with the premise: There Is No Box.
We all have perceived and imaginary boxes that control our lives, that keep us tied to our early indoctrination and childhood prejustices, whether in religion, politics, racism, sexism, nationalism or simply not wanting to try something new. "Out of the Box" thinking, or thinking differently about something, should be normal. We learn as we gain knowledge and common sense from the world around us, and we learn to grow out from under the tight confines of our metaphorical boxes. For some, the box seems real, and they see no way or thought of escape until they are shocked by a tragedy or an epiphany of some sort. But for most of us the door is wide open for all the knowledge we can learn. In today's world, with the Internet, books, videos and all the learning courses in all the subjects imaginable, it is hard to imagine anyone staying within the confines of their own narrow thinking. But they do. They haven't been taught to think differently or creatively. They certainly haven't opened themselves up for new ideas. There is a way for all of us to advance toward being an enlightened, creative and productive citizen of the world. We each must discover it for ourselves. Also, we can inspire people to think about their existence by showing them a different view of the world.
The whole world is open to us and is filled with knowledge. On the mind map, at the base of the blue line of knowledge, is our learning method, starting with a fundamental difference in the way we are taught: That we be allowed to fail. It is through large and small failures that learning finds it's core. For example: we must fall off the bicycle for us to learn how to balance, we must pay the consequences of not being polite to someone for us to learn the art of discretion, we must get all the chords and fingering wrong for us to learn how to play the guitar like Eric Clapton. Life is full of wonderful failures and new paths on the way to success, and as we gain new life skills we begin to understand that learning is a series of building blocks. We must learn to exercise before we can run the marathon, we must learn to read before we can acquire the knowledge we need to know.
As you read through this mind map of creativity, I hope this will, somehow, inspire you to find your way. The stems of creativity are our History, our Awareness of life's wonders around us and coming to terms with Who We Are. Through Partnerships we bring concepts together to create a better idea. With Preperation we work toward creating something worthwile. The pinnicle of our life's calling is our Mastery. Here we will finally be able to show the world Who We Are.
